우리나라에서 홍콩 영화가 유행하던 때가 있었습니다. 주윤발의 영웅본색, 철혈쌍웅 등 르와르 장르의 영화입니다. 그 중 하나가 바로 무간도 입니다. 디파티드는 바로 무간도와 나왔던 소재, 한명은 경찰이지만 경찰의 정보를 빼내기 위한 갱단 단원이고, 다른 한명은 경찰이지만, 이 갱단을 소탕하기 위해서 위장 잠입해서 갱 생활을 한다는 설정입니다.
디파티드와 무간도의 설정과 전개는 비슷하나, 결말은 직접확인해 볼 필요가 있습니다. 엇갈린 신분으로 정체성 혼란을 느끼는 이 두사람은 결국 같이 조우합니다. 영화를 보는 동안 긴장감과 스릴, 그리고 마지막 결말을 기대하게 만들고 있습니다. 보는 동안 몰입하게 만드는 영화입니다.

3. 영화에서 배울만한 영어 어휘
갱 영화이면서, 경찰 영화 입니다. 갱 영화 특성상 빠른 전개로 인해서, 영어 공부용으로 적합하지 않습니다. 역시 욕도 많고요. 슬랭도 많이 씁니다. 특히, 전치사를 활용한 영어에 약한 한국 사람들에게는 더욱 더 어렵게 들립니다.
스크립트 4번에 plainclothes가 사복 경찰을 의미합니다. 천천히 생각해 보면 알 수 있는 단어이지만, 영화를 보면서 알아들을 수 있기 위해서는 자꾸 들어서 익숙해져야 합니다.
13번 on an even keel은 이곳에 있는 예문처럼 keep과 연결해서 사용하는 숙어로 보입니다.
23번 subtle는 단어가 어렵기 보다는 발음이 어렵습니다. 이런 경우 실제 대화에서 사용할때는 sophisticated and subtle 처럼 비슷한 단어로 사용하면 하면 상대방이 쉽게 알아들을 수 있습니다. 발음이 어려운 단어를 사용할 경우 유사한 단어를 두개 사용하게 되면 상대방이 쉽게 이해하기 때문입니다.
